RESETTING THE FORD FIESTA'S TYRE PRESSURE LIGHT Ford Fiesta
Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) are a safety feature that alerts the driver when one or more tires have been deflated to 25% or more of the set pressure. On the Ford Fiesta, the tire pressure light may need to be reset because the monitoring system is on, but the light stays on even after corrective action has been taken.
How to reset the low tyre pressure warning light on the Ford Fiesta
To reset the tyre pressure warning light, follow these instructions:
On the centre instrument panel, press the menu button. Press the down arrow and scroll to Vehicle Settings and press OK. Scroll down to Tire Control and press OK. Now hold down the OK button and wait a few seconds until the message "Reset Tire Pressure" appears.
That's right, the Ford Fiesta's tyre pressure light should now go out. If it stays on or comes back on, you'll have to check for other faults.
FORD FIESTA TYRE PRESSURE SENSOR PROBLEMS
DescriptionActionInflated tiresCheck that all tires are at the correct pressure. You can find the correct pressures on the tyre pressure label on the B-pillar of the inner door. After inflating the tyres to the correct pressure, you must restart the tyre pressure monitoring system. The spare tyre is in useUsing your spare tyre will activate the Ford Fiesta Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Repair your normal wheel and road tyre to restore normal operation. If your tires are set to the correct pressure, you have reset the TPMS and your spare tire is not in use, the TPMS is malfunctioning. The light flashes for approximately 1 minute when the unit is on and then remains stable.
TYRE PRESSURES
You must restart the TPMS system each time you adjust the tyre pressure. The tyre pressure should be checked every two weeks, especially in cold weather. Tyre pressure is lower in cold weather which often activates the tyre pressure monitoring system. Driving with inflated tyres can
Reduce vehicle stabilityReduce braking performanceIncrease fuel consumptionIncrease tyre wear
CHANGE TIRES
You must restart the tyre pressure monitoring system every time you change the tyres on your vehicle.
CHANGING TYRES
If you intend to change tires, the tire pressure control system must relearn the pressure sensors to avoid constant activation of a fault.
Make sure all tyres are inflated to the correct pressure. park the vehicle and allow it to stand for at least 20 minutes. perform the tyre pressure monitoring system reset procedure. the tyre pressure monitoring system will re-learn the new pressure sensors for your Ford Fiesta the next time you drive for about 15 minutes and at over 25 mph.
THE TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS
If all the tires are at the correct pressure, you have reset the TPMS and the replacement tire is not in use, it is likely that one or more of your sensors in the tires are not working. These monitoring systems are sealed units which means the sensors or batteries cannot be replaced independently and the entire unit must be replaced.
