2009 Ford Escape TPMS Recovery

.
The 2009 Ford Escape was available with a wireless tire pressure monitoring system. This system consisted of four steering wheel-mounted tire pressure sensors and a tire pressure warning light on the instrument panel. The tire pressure sensors are monitored by the vehicle's intelligent junction box.

The 2009 Escape Smart Box is a solid-state electrical device located behind the center of the dash. In addition to the tire pressure control system, it controls a variety of vehicle electronics, such as remote door locks, exterior and interior lights, to name just a few.

Access to Air Mode Sensor Training

Ventilate the tires at the exact pressure indicated on the information plate on the door post and in the exhaust user manual.

To activate the Tire Pressure Control System training mode, you must perform a combination of combination cycles by pressing and releasing the ignition key at certain intervals.

With the ignition off, press and release the brake pedal simultaneously. Turn the power switch from "OFF" to "Run" three times and stop with the power switch in the "Run" position. Press and release the brake pedal once and turn the power switch. You should hear the horn sound once and the tire pressure warning light will flash to let you know you have entered training mode.
If the exhaust is equipped with a message center, "LF Tire Train" is displayed

Training the tire pressure sensors

Once you have correctly activated the sensor training mode, you can start training each sensor, starting with the left front wheel and moving to the right for the right front tire, then the right rear tire and finally the left rear tire.

You will need a special sensor reset tool to train each sensor, Ford part number 8C2Z 1A203-A or Motorcraft part number TPMS-19. Hold the sensor reset tool at a 180 degree angle against the tire sidewall or directly under the valve stem. Press and hold the reset tool button for approximately six seconds. Once the tire pressure sensor is identified by the smart junction box, the horn will sound once. You have about 2 minutes of the time the horn sounds to start training the next sensor. If you wait too long, the training mode is disabled and you must start again.

When you have successfully trained all four sensors, "Full Tire Training" will appear in the message center. If the exhaust was not equipped with a message center, you can determine if the tire training was successful by turning the ignition key. If the horn sounds twice when the ignition key is turned on, the tyre sensor training was not successful.

After successful sensor training, inflate all four tires to the proper cold pressure. You can find this information on the tire information label located on the driver's side B-pillar or on the edge of the driver's door.

tire pressure monitor fault fusion What is the TPMS Tyre Pressure Monitoring System What is the TPMS Tyre Pressure Monitoring System? The TPMS Tire Pressure Monitoring System is a basic safety system device used to monitor tire pressure levels. From November 1st 2014 new vehicles sold in the European market will be required to be fitted with, amongst other things, stability control and TPMS. This acronym stands for Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and is a device which, together with airbags, seat belts, ABS, etc., forms part of the basic safety systems. As the name suggests, this system is used to warn the driver if one of the wheels is not under pressure. On simpler models a warning is simply displayed on the dashboard with a tyre symbol or the letters TPMS in orange, but does not indicate which of the four pressure drops has occurred. The more comprehensive ones indicate exactly which tyre needs our attention and even provide information on the pressure and temperature of each wheel ...
